Xi'an is the capital of the Shaanxi province in China. It has long been known as "the cradle of the Chinese culture" and was the capital of China through thirteen dynasties. Xi'an continues to hold much of China's history. Some of the most significant cultural aspects of the city include being known for the starting point of the infamous "Silk Road," which was an important trade route throughout Asia. Xi'an is also home to the Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses, which are life-sized figures that consist of solders, chariots, officials, and horses each expressing different facial features and appearances. The figures are in battle formation, guarding the tomb of the first Quin emperor, Qin Shi Huang. Big Goose Pagoda is another significant cultural site in Xi'an. The ancient building is seven stories high and contains two Buddhist Pagodas. Xi'an continues to offer various other cultural attractions that help to uncover the true history of China.
