Chinese dining etiquette is another aspect of the Chinese culture that is of significant interest to me. After talking a little bit about this in class, I decided to do a little more research on it and write about it for my blog this week. After searching through various articles, I found that the most important rule of Chinese dining etiquette is about the seating arrangement. They give specific rules for where everyone should sit, usually based around wherever the master of the banquet is sitting. They also have different rules for where everyone sits depending on whether they are sitting at a round or square table, which I thought was quite interesting. I learned that you should always pick up the bowl you are eating from, or it will be regarded as bad table manners. They also believe that elders should always eat first and that you should always try to refill their bowls with food.
